How much does IPTV cost in Canada? Between $7.50 and $20 a month for a serious service, depending on the duration you choose and the number of devices — five to ten times less than a full cable package. But the prices shown on IPTV sites are rarely comparable: some hide fees, others sell a yearly plan that vanishes after three months. Here are the real numbers — ours, cable’s and the market’s — and what makes the bill go up or down.

Our IPTV prices, no detours

Four servers — Duck, Edge, Raccoon and Trex — each with its own line-up, and a price that depends on two choices: the duration (1, 3, 6 or 12 months) and the number of devices watching at the same time (1 to 3).

Plan 1 month 3 months 6 months 12 months Monthly equivalent (12 months)
Duck (1 device) $15 $35 $65 $90 $7.50
Edge (1 device) $18 $45 $75 $120 $10
Raccoon (1 device) $20 $50 $80 $150 $12.50
Trex (1 device) $20 $50 $80 $150 $12.50

Two simultaneous devices cost about 1.7 to 2 times the one-device price (Duck 12 months: $160); three devices, about 2.5 times (Duck 12 months: $235). The displayed price is the full price: no activation fee, no box rental, no “sports” or “4K” surcharge, and nothing renews automatically.

The 24-hour trial costs $2.99 and gives access to the complete service.

What moves the price

Duration

The main lever. Going from monthly to yearly halves the price: Duck drops from $15 to $7.50 a month. Start with one month, then extend once the service has proven itself.

Number of devices

One device is enough for a person or a couple watching the same TV. A family with the living-room TV, a tablet in the bedroom and a phone takes 2 or 3 devices.

The server

Duck is the most affordable; Raccoon and Trex have the widest line-ups (international channels, VOD). Same 4K quality on all four — the difference is breadth of content, not stability.

IPTV vs cable: the bill over a year

Comparing IPTV plans on a laptop in front of the TV

A full cable package in Canada — Bell Fibe, Rogers, Videotron Hélix, Telus, Shaw — runs $80 to $150 a month once sports and HD are added, plus $10 to $25 in equipment rental and $50 to $200 for installation.

Item Cable IPTV Québec HD
Over twelve months $960 – $1,800 $90 (Duck) to $150 (Trex), 1 device
Installation / activation $50 – $200 None
Equipment rental $10 – $25 / month None: your Fire TV Stick or Smart TV
4K streams $10 – $20 / month extra Included
Live channels 200 – 500 10,000 to 30,000 depending on the server
Commitment 12 – 24 months None

Typical gap: $870 to $1,710 a year per household. The item-by-item breakdown is on our IPTV vs cable page.

The hidden cost: hardware and connection

IPTV has no hidden monthly fees, but two upfront expenses apply if you start from scratch:

  • A device: a Fire TV Stick costs about $50 (4K) to $80 (4K Max); a recent Samsung or LG Smart TV needs nothing. Formuler boxes ($200 to $300) are an enthusiast’s choice, not a requirement. Our setup guide covers every option.
  • Your internet connection: 25 Mbps is enough for HD, 50 Mbps for 4K. You most likely have it already; IPTV does not require a pricier internet plan.

No paid app is needed: IPTV Smarters Pro is free; Hot Player and TiviMate have an optional one-time licence (around $10 to $15, paid to the developer).

Market prices: when it’s too good to be true

You will see offers like “12 months, every premium channel, 4 devices” for $40 or $50. A few benchmarks for reading them:

  1. Under $6 a month on a yearly plan, a service cannot pay for servers in Canada or for support; it cuts out on game nights or disappears — with your year’s payment.
  2. “Free for life”, “every channel in the world”, gift cards or Telegram-only payment: the red flags detailed in Is IPTV legal in Canada?.
  3. A price shown in US dollars or euros adds 35 % to 50 % at checkout.
  4. A paid trial ($2 to $3) is a better sign than a free one: it filters the curious and funds a real 24-hour test.

How to pay, and when it starts

Payment is by Interac e-Transfer (from any Canadian bank) or Bitcoin, from your client area. Activation follows confirmation within minutes, 7 days a week; your credentials arrive by email and stay in the portal. At renewal you pick the same duration or a longer one, with the same credentials — nothing to reinstall.

In short

  • Real cost of IPTV in Canada: $7.50 to $12.50 a month on a serious yearly plan, $15 to $20 month to month.
  • Savings versus cable: $870 to $1,710 a year, with no equipment rental and no commitment.
  • The right move: the $2.99 trial, then one month, then yearly once the service has earned it.
